Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In the opening match of a weekend road trip to Nashville, the Wofford College women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 at Belmont on Friday afternoon. The Bruins took the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches to earn the win.
In doubles, the Bruins picked up a 6-1 win at the #1 position and then clinched the point with a 6-4 win at the #2 position. The #3 doubles match was not finished.
Singles play began with a win by the Bruins at the #2 position.
Brianna Wilbur then won a 6-3, 6-1 match at the #4 position to earn a point for the Terriers. A three-set-win at #1 singles gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead and then they secured the win with a three-set match at #3 singles.
Breda Brennan added a 6-0, 6-4 win at #6 singles for Wofford and the match ended with a win at #5 singles by the Bruins.
Wofford (4-4) will remain in Nashville for a Sunday morning match at Vanderbilt with a 11:00 a.m. ET start. The Bruins are now 5-3 on the season.
