JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Wofford College women's tennis team opened Southern Conference play on Friday afternoon with a 7-0 loss at East Tennessee State University. The match at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved up one day due to weather.
In doubles play, the Bucs won all three matches by a 6-2 margin. Singles began with ETSU earning wins at the #5, #1 and #3 positions to clinch the match. They added wins at #6, #2 and #4 singles to complete the match.
Brianna Wilbur at #4 singles took the first set to a tiebreaker, but the Terriers were unable to take a singles set against the Bucs.
Wofford (5-6) will host Fairfield on Wednesday, March 16 at Reeves Tennis Center. The Bucs are 8-6 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
