CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – On Saturday, the Wofford College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Chattanooga at the UTC Tennis Center. The Mocs won the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches for the Southern Conference win.
In singles, the Mocs had straight-set wins at the #6 and #1 positions to begin the match.
Liz Massie had a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win at the #2 position to earn a point for the Terriers.
Georgia Fischer then tied the match at 2-2 with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 comeback win at the #3 position. The Mocs took the lead with a three-set win at #5 singles and clinched the match with a three-set win at the #4 position.
Doubles play began with
Liz Massie and
Lilie Steryous wining 6-1 at the #1 position. The Mocs were able to earn the doubles point with wins at the #2 and #3 positions.
The Terriers made several adjustments to their line-up in both singles and doubles as the team was without two players that normally compete.
Wofford (6-7, 0-2) continues Southern Conference play on Thursday, March 24 at Furman. Chattanooga is 9-5 overall and 1-0 in league play.
