SPARTANBURG, S.C. – With the match tied at three, Mark Endler claimed a three-set win at the #4 singles position to give the Wofford men's tennis team a 4-3 win over UNC Greensboro. The Terriers won the closely contested doubles point and split the singles matches for the Southern Conference victory.
 
In doubles, the Spartans held a 3-2 lead in all three matches. At the #3 position, Ashe Ray and Alex Horn rallied for a 6-4 win. Bryce Keim and Callum Rendle were up 6-5 at the #1 position, but the Spartans tied the match at 6-6 and then won the tiebreaker 7-3. With the doubles point tied, it came down to the #2 position. The Spartans held a 6-5 lead before Mark Endler and Will Fullett tied it at 6. In the tiebreaker, the Terriers came away with an 8-6 win for the match and the doubles point.
 
Singles play began with Will Fullett taking a 6-1, 6-0 win at the # 6 position. The Spartans tied the match with wins at #1 and #2 singles. Alex Horn put the Terriers back in front with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the #5 position, but a win at #3 singles by UNCG tied the match.
 
At the #4 position, Mark Endler lost the first set 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker and responded by winning the second set 7-5. With all the other matches completed, attention turned to the third set. Endler jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Roger Rogowski of UNCG made it a 5-3 match. Endler was able to close it out for the 6-3 win in the third set to clinch the match.
 
"I'm incredibly proud of the toughness that our team embraced today," said head coach Rod Ray. "It started with how we exploded to come from behind to get the doubles point. The singles matches were close and Mark played with great courage to clinch the win. We beat a good team today."
 
Wofford (8-10, 2-2) has defeated UNCG in three straight meetings. They return to the road on Sunday, April 3, when they face Samford in Birmingham. The Spartans are now 5-11 overall and 2-1 in league play.
