SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win over Radford on Sunday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then took three of the singles matches for the victory.

Lily Woods and Georgia Fischer had the match at the #1 position tied at 6-6 and then won the tiebreaker 8-6 to earn the doubles point for the Terriers.

In singles play, the Terriers had the lead after the first set in five of the six matches. The Highlanders won at #3 singles which was the lone match they lead after the first set by a 6-4, 6-2 score. Wofford's Georgia Fischer earned a point at #5 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win. At the #2 position, Lilie Steryous won 6-3, 7-6 with the second set decided by a tiebreaker 7-5 to give the Terriers a 3-1 lead in the match.

At #6 singles, Emely Kahrs won the first set 6-4 and was tied at 6-6 in the second set. In the tiebreaker, Kahrs won 7-0 to win the match and clinch the victory for the Terriers. The Highlanders won at #1 and #4 singles in three sets for the final 4-3 margin.

"The doubles point was so important today," said head coach Krissy Hall. "I was really proud of how well we competed for that point. It came down to number one doubles where we were down 3-5 and we stayed focused and executed our game plan one point at a time to pull it out. We carried the momentum into singles and got a really strong start in our matches. I thought as a team we had a great competitive mindset throughout the entire match."

Wofford (5-5) will remain at home and host UNC Asheville on Wednesday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m. before beginning Southern Conference play on Saturday, March 12, at East Tennessee State. The Highlanders are 6-5 on the season.
