GREENVILLE, S.C. – On Friday afternoon, the Wofford College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 5-2 loss at Furman University. The Paladins won the doubles point and four of the six singles matches at the Mickel Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Paladins won at the #3 and #1 positions to claim the point. At the #2 position,
Bryce Keim and
Callum Rendle won 7-6 by taking the tiebreaker 7-5.
The Paladins picked up singles win at the #5, #3 and #2 positions to clinch the match. They added a win at the #1 position. Wofford was able to win the final two matches of the day. At the #6 position,
Will Fullett took the first set 6-3, lost the second and then was up 4-2 in the third set when his opponent retired.
Mark Endler was tied at the #4 position after dropping the first set 7-5 and then winning the second set 6-1. He claimed the point with a 12-10 third set tiebreaker.
Wofford ends the regular season at 9-12 overall and 3-4 in the Southern Conference. Furman is 13-8 on the season and 5-1 in league play. The Southern Conference Tournament will begin on April 21 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The seeding will be decided on Saturday, following the outcome of several other matches.
