SPARTANBURG S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Gardner-Webb in the 2022 season opener. The lone goal came at the 48-minute mark as the Runnin' Bulldogs squeaked past the Terriers at Snyder Field.
 
Wofford saw many scoring chances throughout the match, including a penalty kick from 
Brandon Oddy at the 58:01 mark, but the goalkeeping duo of Lorenzo Bartoloni (first half) and Javier Ramirez (second half) rallied to keep a clean sheet with four saves each.
 
Both 
Nikolai Rojel and Oddy finished the match with two shots, both on goal, while 
Jackson Wrobel rattled off three shots with two on goal.
 
The 'Dogs lone goal came three minutes into the second half after Jaylen Orr found the back off the net off a pass from Louison Cavalier.
 
Quick Hits
Cameron Victor made seven saves during the match, five in the second half.
Gardner-Webb had the advantage in shots, 11-10, with both sides having eight shots on goals.
Wofford held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The loss moves the all-time series to 8-8-1.
