Men’s Soccer Defeats Royals In The Queen City

CHARLOTTE N.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team survived a late scare after watching a 4-1 lead dwindle to 4-3 in the closing minutes, but held on to defeat Queens 4-3 on the road. The win moves the Terriers' record to 3-5-1 on the season.

The Terriers found themselves down early after a goal from Mario Goic put the Royals up 1-0 just three minutes into the match.

Wofford responded quickly with Nikolai Rojel sending a shot to the back of the net off a pass from Jackson Wrobel, tying the game 1-1 at the 6:28 mark.

Rojel struck again 10 minutes later, this time off passes from Wrobel and Jakob Anderson, giving the Terriers a 2-1 lead.

Wrobel continued the offensive production, this time with a goal off a free kick at the 31:22 mark, extending Wofford's lead to 3-1, which carried into the half.

The Terriers picked up right where they left off in the first half, with Bryce Peacock adding to the Wofford lead off a corner kick pass from Anderson and Paul Jones, extending the lead to 4-1 at the 54:19 mark.

The Royals made it close, scoring back-to-back goals in the 82nd and 87th minutes to get within one, but Wofford survived the late rally to hang on for the 4-3 win.
