CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team opened the 2023 spring season on Sunday afternoon against Clemson University at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Tigers won all three doubles matches and swept the singles matches for the 7-0 win.
In doubles, Clemson earned a 6-4 win at the #2 position and a 6-2 win at the #3 position to earn the point. The added a 6-3 win at the #1 position as well.
During singles play, the Tigers took positions #1, #2, #3 and #4 in straight sets to secure the win. At #5 singles,
Georgia Fischer lost the first set 6-2 but rebounded with a 6-4 win in the second set. The match ended with a tiebreak, which was won 10-7 by Clemson. At #6 singles,
Catherine Blouin lost the first set 7-6 in a tiebreaker and won the second set 7-6 in a tiebreak. Clemson won the third set tiebreaker 10-6.
Wofford will return to action on Friday, January 27, against the University of North Florida at the Reeves Tennis Center.
