Wofford Clinches First Round Bye on Senior Night

Spartanburg, S.C.- With major Southern Conference implications on the line, Wofford men's soccer took care of business against the Furman Paladins, 1-0, to ensure at least one more match will be played at Snyder Field this season.

Senior Thaddeus Dennis, honored before the match as part of senior night, provided the decisive strike in the 81st minute. The play started with junior Hugo Moldin flipping a pass behind him to sophomore Nikolai Rojel for an immediate cross towards the goal where Dennis was able to redirect the pass in just the right way, preventing the Furman keeper from making a play.

On the opposite end of the pitch, senior keeper Cameron Victor kept his seventh clean sheet of the season to break the program record for single season shutouts. Despite facing ten shots on the night, the senior out of Olmstead Falls, Ohio, went unchallenged by the four shots that were on target- including a match sealing save with ten seconds remaining.

Wofford's seven shutouts this season sets a new best in the D-I era (1995-present) and their 14 goals allowed in the regular season also represents a new D-I era best.

Throughout conference play, the Terriers conceded only one goal and at 3-0-2 went undefeated for the first time in program history. Eleven points is also the most scored in the SoCon since scoring 12 points in 2017 (the 2017 team did play ten matches as opposed to this season's five due to conference realignment).

In defeating the in-state rival, Wofford clinched the second seed in next week's SoCon tournament and await the winner of the third seeded Furman Paladins and sixth seeded VMI Keydets here at Snyder Field on Sunday, November 5, at 2 PM for the chance to play in the conference finals on a date that is still TBD.
