SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) announced today the 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams as selected by the organization to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Wofford's
Millie Loehr and
Mary Emily Morgan were selected among the honorees. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
This marks back-to-back seasons that multiple Terriers have been recognized as Academic All-District. Both Loehr and Morgan repeat this season after being among Wofford's four honorees last season.
Loehr is a senior from Durham, North Carolina. On the court, she tallied 107 total blocks at a rate of 0.98 per set, second in the conference in both marks. She recorded her 200
th career block earlier this season at The Citadel. Offensively, she totaled 219 kills with a .352 hitting clip, third in the SoCon. Loehr was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on November 6 and capped her campaign with a Second-Team All-SoCon selection. Loehr is a psychology and French double major with a 3.67 GPA.
Morgan is a junior from Atlanta, Georgia. She recorded 242 kills on the season at a rate of 2.28 per set, barely second on the team in both. Her kills per set clip ranks 16
th in the Southern Conference. She added in 35 total blocks and 305 digs, ranking second on the squad in that regard as well with 2.88 per set. Her dual-threat efforts landed her five double-doubles during the season. Morgan added in 19 aces as well. Morgan was graced with the SoCon Tournament Pinnacle Award, which is presented to the student-athlete of the championship winning team with the highest GPA. Morgan's stellar performance in the SoCon Tournament combined with her academic success earned her SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week recognition on November 22. Morgan owns a 3.90 GPA as a business economics major.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, and Loehr is one of the finalists who advanced to the national ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.
