SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's tennis team won 5-0 on Saturday against Mars Hill University at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and added wins in four singles matches to clinch the victory.
"We needed to attack today's match and that's exactly what we did," said head coach
Rod Ray. "I'm proud of our team. Mars Hill has good players who challenged us. We're looking forward to tomorrow."
Doubles play began with
Will Fullett and
Ian Rasheed taking the #2 position 6-0.
Ashe Ray and
Robbie Young clinched the point with a 6-1 win at the #3 position.
Callum Rendle and
Max Graham were up 4-2 when the doubles point was complete.
Alex Horn got things started in singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the #5 position. Callem Rendle added a 6-2, 6-1 win at #2 singles and the match was clinched with a 6-1, 6-1 win by
Robbie Young at the #3 position.
Ashe Ray added a 6-2, 6-2 win at #1 singles and the final two matches were unfinished.
Wofford (3-4) will host UAB on Sunday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m. before a home doubleheader on Tuesday, February 21 with the women's team against North Greenville.
