SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 sweep of North Greenville University on Tuesday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers took all three doubles matches and then won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Doubles play opened with the Wofford team of
Catherine Blouin and
Brianna Wilbur taking the #2 position 6-0.
Georgia Fischer and
Lily Woods added a 6-1 win at the #1 position to secure the doubles point for the Terriers.
Emma Sorensen and
Emely Kahrs closed things out with a 6-2 win at the #3 position.
In singles play,
Brianna Wilbur had a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #3 position to start things off.
Emely Kahrs then had a 6-1, 6-0 win at the #5 position, with
Breda Brennan adding a 6-0, 6-1 win at the #2 position to clinch the match.
Georgia Fischer went 6-2, 6-0 to take the #4 singles and
Lily Woods had a 6-3, 6-1 win at the #1 singles position.
Chloe Elliott ended the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the #6 singles position.
"We started off strong by winning all three doubles matches and continued our competitive play throughout singles," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "I was really impressed with our mindset and energy!"
The Terriers (5-4) will be on the road on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. match at Presbyterian College before returning home on Sunday to host Appalachian State at noon.
