JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Wofford College men's tennis team returned to action on Saturday and was defeated 6-1 by the University of North Florida at the UNF Tennis Complex. The Ospreys (1-0) won the doubles point and took five of the six singles matches from the Terriers (0-3) for the win.
In doubles, North Florida took a 6-0 win at the #1 position and clinched the point with a 6-2 win at the #3 position. At the #2 position,
Will Fullett and
Ian Rasheed were leading 4-3 when the doubles point was secured.
During singles play, the Ospreys won at the #1, #2, #5 and #6 positions in straight sets to secure the match win. At #4 singles,
Will Fullett won the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 2-6 and rallied for a 7-5 win in the third set. At #3 singles,
Robbie Young lost the first set in a 7-6 tiebreak (7-3) and won the second set 6-4 before falling in the third set tiebreak 10-6.
Wofford will host their first home match of the season on Wednesday, February 8 against Young Harris College at 3:00 p.m.
