Wofford Lacrosse Falls 15-4 to East Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A close game after the first quarter saw East Carolina pull away in the second quarter against Wofford College for a 15-4 win on Sunday afternoon at Gibbs Stadium. Four different players scored for the Terriers in the game.

After a slow start to the game, the Terriers (0-4) would strike first as Carlie Cutinella was able to break through the defense and put Wofford on the board. ECU (6-1) would take a 2-1 lead with goals from Emily Stratton and Ellie Bromley later in the first quarter. After a third goal by the Pirates in the early second quarter, Leah Hurley got the Terriers back with in one goal.

The Pirates closed out the first half with five goals to take an 8-2 halftime lead. Addison Witkowski and Emma Stalteri would score for Wofford in the second half but the Pirates added seven goals more to take the 15-4 win.

Brynn Knight got the win for the Pirates with nine saves and four goals conceded, while Aislinn Washburn got the loss with ten saves and 15 goals allowed.

Six Terriers tied with one groundball each. Stalteri and Hurley both won three each draw controls for Wofford.

The Terriers next game will be Tuesday March 7, against Xavier at 12 P.M. at Gibbs Stadium.
