GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Wofford men's golf team concluded its 2022-23 season at the Southern Conference Championship, placing seventh with a score of 875 at the Reynold Plantation – Oconee Course, a par-72, 7,174-yard course.
Max Cranford and
Matthew Larkin paced the squad by tying for 16
th to each notch top-20 finishes.
The Terriers posted a 290 in round one, but a tough second-round 296 proved to be tough to overcome, even with a 289 in the final round. This led to a score of 875 for Wofford, placing the Terriers in seventh at 11-over par.
No. 34 ETSU won the championship with a 30-under score of 834, placing five strokes ahead of No. 47 Chattanooga in second.
A pair of Terriers earned top-20 results, with
Max Cranford and
Matthew Larkin each tying for 16
th. Cranford shot 73-72-72 while Larkin carded 71-76-70 for each to score 217 at 1-over par. Cranford's 12 birdies tied for fifth most in the event.
ETSU's Mats Ege claimed low medalist honors with a 14-under 202, four strokes ahead of his teammate Matty Dodd-Berry.
Jackson Hill (80-70-72) posted a score of 222 to tie for 31
st. Hill notched Wofford's lone eagle of the event.
Harry Jones (71-81-75) carded 227 to place 36
th, and
Will Jones (75-78-75) was one spot behind in 37
th with a score of 228.
Harry Jones tied for the fifth-most birdies in the tournament with 12.
Wofford has concluded its season and will return to action in the fall of 2023.
