ROCK HILL, S.C. – On Saturday morning, the Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 40
th annual Winthrop/adidas Invitational. Both the men and women finished fourth overall.
The women's 5K race was held first, with
Alexus Atkins the top Wofford finisher at 19:24.3 for 13
th place.
Mary Claire Ridgeway was 16
th at 19:31.0, with
Becca Hinds (19:40.4),
Ava Fowler (20:32.7) and
Franny Tocco (20:46.1) scoring for the Terriers.
Camille Terracina (21:13.1),
Morgan Roberts (21:35.7),
Kristen Hallman (21:38.2),
Victoria Davis (21:43.2), and
Emma O'Connell (23:46.3) completed the course as well.
The men's 8K competition followed and
Carson Archie was the top Terrier to finish in 26:38.1 for 19
th place.
Liam Jones was 33
rd overall in 28:00.5, followed by
James Moon (29:08.7),
Dillon Shin (30:05.2), and Nathan Hopkins (30:33.9) to round out the scorers.
Will Berger (30:38.4),
James Blackwelder (32:00.6) and
Brendan Roper (32:27.0) also finished for the Terriers.
Overall, Elon was first in the women's race of eight teams with 25 points, followed by catawba (65), UNC Greensboro (68) and Wofford (91). The men's race of seven teams was won by Catawba with 23 points, followed by Elon (46), Winthrop (84) and Wofford (132).
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 14, at the Upstate Invitational held at Milliken Park in Spartanburg.
