Box Score CONWAY, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team opened the 2024 spring season on Saturday afternoon against Coastal Carolina at the Stevens Tennis Complex. The Chanticleers won the doubles point and then four of the six singles matches to claim a 5-2 win over the Terriers.
In doubles, the Bucs had wins at all three positions to claim the point.
During singles play, Wofford earned wins at the #1 position as
Breda Brennan picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win. The Terriers also had a win at the #6 position as
Catherine Blouin won the first set, lost the second in a tiebreaker and then had a 6-1 win in the third set. The Bucs won the other four singles matches, however
Brianna Wilbur at #2 singles and
Lily Woods at #3 singles took their matches to three sets.
"We didn't get the result we wanted today, but I am so proud of this team," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "They fought until the end, leaving it all on court. Coastal played extremely well. This is a great start to the season and we are excited to implement what we learned today against Charleston Southern tomorrow."
Wofford remain on the road with a match at Charleston Southern on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The first home match will be Saturday, February 10 against Emmanuel.
