CHARLESTON, S.C. – On Sunday afternoon, the Wofford College women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Charleston Southern at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point, but the Bucs responded by winning five of the six singles matches to earn the victory.   
 
In doubles, the Terriers pair of Breda Brennan and Catherine Blouin had a 6-4 win at the #3 position. Wofford was able to claim the doubles point with a 7-5 win at the #1 position by Grace Agster and Lily Woods.
 
Singles play began with the Bucs taking the #4 and #6 positions in straight sets. The other four matches went to three sets each. At #3 singles, Lily Woods took the first set 6-2, but lost the next two sets. Brianna Wilbur won the first set 6-2 at the # 2 position, however lost the second set in a tiebreaker and the Bucs took the third set as well to clinch the match. At #1 singles, Breda Brennan won the first set 7-5, dropped the second set and then won the third set 6-4. In the final single match to finish, Emely Kahrs won the first set at #5 singles, but lost the second and third sets.
 
Wofford (0-2) remains on the road with matches at Bethune-Cookman on Thursday and Stetson on Friday. The first home match will be Saturday, February 10 against Emmanuel.
