SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Saturday morning, the Wofford College women's tennis team defeated Presbyterian College 6-1 at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then won five of the six singles matches.
In doubles,
Grace Agster and
Lily Woods got the match started with a 6-3 win at the #1 position.
Catherine Blouin and
Breda Brennan clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the #2 position. The Blue Hose had a 6-4 win at the #2 position.
During singles play,
Catherine Blouin had a 6-3, 6-0 win at the #6 position for the Terriers. At #1 singles,
Breda Brennan had a 6-0, 6-0 win and then at #2 singles
Brianna Wilbur clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win. The Blue Hose picked up a win at the #4 singles position. Wofford added a 6-1, 6-3 win at #5 by
Grace Agster. At #3 singles
Lily Woods won the first set 6-4, dropped the second set and then won the third set in a 10-5 tiebreaker.
"I was really proud of the way we started the match," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We had great energy and showed great courage. We carried the momentum from the doubles into singles and never let up."
The Terriers, who have now won six straight matches (6-2) will remain at home when they host Radford on Saturday, February 24. The Blue Hose drop to 5-4 on the season.
