EATONTON, Ga. – The Wofford men's golf team wrapped up its stint in the three-day Linger Longer Invitational today, placing in 14
th with a score of 918 at the par-72, 7,436-yard Great Waters Golf Course.
Ben Jordan was the top Terrier with his score of 225 in 55
th.
The Terriers opened with a score of 302 before tallying a 308 in each of the final two rounds. This culminated in a 918 total, 54-over par. Wofford finished in 14
th place in the event.
The event field was stacked with five Power Five teams, with one of them claiming the victory. Alabama's tournament record of 40-under with an 824 secured the Crimson Tide the event win by 11 strokes in the 14-team field.
Ben Jordan led the Terriers with his score of 225, 9-over par. He opened play with a first-round 74 before a second-round speed bump of 78. However, he finished strong on day three with a 73.
Alabama swept the event, claiming the top-three individual finishers. Jonathan Griz was the low medalist with a 13-under 203, defeating his teammate JP Cave by three strokes in the 81-player field.
Cedric Otten tied for 64
th with a 12-over 228. He opened with back-to-back rounds of 73 before a final round of 82.
Matthew Larkin and
Marshall Butler tied for 75
th with both scoring 235. Larkin posted rounds of 78-82-75, and Butler, competing as an individual, tallied rounds of 76-77-82.
Harry Jones placed in 77
th with rounds of 77-75-85 for a 237, and
Charles Warren's rounds of 86-83-78 give him a 247 to round out the Wofford lineup.
The Terriers will return to action in April at the Augusta Haskins Invitational. The two-day, three-round event is hosted by Augusta in Augusta, Georgia, and runs from April 6 to April 7.
