SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Monday, the Southern Conference named its Football Player of the Week awards for all games played so far this season. Mercer quarterback DJ Smith was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Wofford linebacker Jalen Marshall was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Bears wide receiver Brayden Smith was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. The awards are selected by the league office.
 
Marshall, a junior from Hiram, Georgia, led the Terriers with ten tackles in the win at Gardner-Webb on Thursday night. Two of his tackles were for a loss as the defense held the Runnin' Bulldogs to only 62 rushing yards in the game. This is the first Player of the Week award for Marshall in his career.
 
Wofford will play at Richmond on Saturday, September 7 at 3:30 p.m.
