SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford men's basketball team (11-11, 5-4) suffered a slow start in a 74-67 loss to the VMI Keydets (10-12, 4-5) on Wednesday evening in Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The Terriers were outshot from the field, as VMI finished the night shooting 46 percent (23-50) and hit 11 threes at a 42.3 percent rate. Wofford shot 43.1 percent (25-58) and knocked down 10 threes at a 33.3 percent clip.
Wofford was led by three double-digit scorers as
Kyler Filewich led the way with 18 points, tying his career high.
Dillon Bailey notched his eighth-straight game in double-digits after scoring 15 points.
Justin Bailey had an electric second half, finishing the night with 11 points, all of which were in the second half.
The Terriers dominated the glass against VMI, outrebounding the Keydets 39-28 including 16 offensive rebounds.
Kyler Filewich paced the group with a game-high 11 rebounds to give him his eighth double-double of the season and 18
th of his career.
Corey Tripp followed behind with seven rebounds along with
Dillon Bailey notching six.
Wofford tallied 17 assists on 25 made baskets while holding VMI to nine assists.
Justin Bailey led the team with five helpers.

Corey Tripp trailed behind as the duo dished out four assists each. The team forced 10 turnovers that resulted in five steals.
Dillon Bailey finished with two. Three players recorded blocks on the night, as
Kyler Filewich led with two, while
Corey Tripp and
Jackson Sivills tallied one apiece.
VMI jumped on the board first, scoring back-to-back buckets to take a quick 4-0 lead.
Corey Tripp responded with a triple, but VMI scored a deep ball on the other end to answer the Wofford basket. The Keydets controlled a slight lead over the Terriers for the next several minutes, but Wofford tied the game at nine-all with just under 16 minutes remaining.
The Keydets rattled off a 18-4 run across the next eight minutes of game time as VMI jumped out to a 27-13 lead with 6:24 left in the first half. VMI would head into the break leading the Terriers 41-25.
Kyler Filewich got the scoring started in the second frame, as his bucket kickstarted an 18-2 run that was highlighted by four three-pointers in a five-minute span.
Justin Bailey hit back-to-back triples, including a highlight ankle-breaker, as well as
Dillon Bailey and
Jackson Sivills knocking down deep balls. The team tied the contest at 43-43 with 14:46 left.
VMI responded, however, scoring five-straight points to regain the advantage. It was a back-and-forth affair for the next several minutes with Wofford cutting the deficit to one-point on two different occasions. The Keydets scored eight-straight points to extend their lead to nine with just under six minutes of action left in the game. The Terriers cut it to three with 3:50 remaining, but the team could not complete the comeback losing the game 74-67.
Wofford will be back in action on Saturday, February 1, as the team will travel to North Carolina to take on the UNCG Spartans. The game will serve as the Ingles/SoCon Game of the Week and can be streamed on ESPN+ and CW62.
