SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Monday, the Southern Conference Football Players of the Week presented by Southern Recognition were awarded for all games played on Oct. 18. Samford quarterback Brady Stober was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Wofford linebacker Javario Tinch was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Chattanooga kicker Jude Kelley was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. The awards are selected by the league office.
 
Tinch, a sophomore from Calhoun Falls, S.C., had five tackles on Saturday in the win over Furman. He shared a sack in the first quarter, but his biggest play in the game was an interception returned 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give Wofford a 28-13 lead with 12:06 remaining. It marked his first career interception. Tinch also recorded a pair of quarterback hurries against the Paladins.
 
This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Tinch and the second honor for the Terriers this season as he joins C.J. Coombes (September 8).
 
Wofford will visit East Tennessee State on Saturday, October 25, at 3:30 p.m.
