LEXINGTON, Va. – The Wofford College rifle team competed on Sunday at the Sills Range in Centreville against VMI and John Jay. The Terriers were second overall with a score of 4,553, defeating John Jay and the VMI women's team.
Wofford was led by
Oliver Guthrie, who placed second overall with an aggregate score of 1,152 to set a personal best.
Samuel Nickless had a 1,141, which included a 587 in air rifle that was second in that event.
Garett Dall had a personal best aggregate of 1,138, while
Anna Mottern (1,106) and
Henry Sparra (1,122) also competed.
Maeghan Springer fired air rifle only with a score of 554.
Overall, VMI's Alexander Pohlman had the top aggregate score at 1,159. Pohlman was first in air rifle at 590, while VMI's Soraya Sar was first in smallbore with a 571. The VMI team was first with a 4,596, followed by Wofford (4,553), VMI women (4,542), and John Jay (4,374).
The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, November 15, at the West Virginia Classic.
