Women's Cross Country Athletic Communications

Cross Country Runs at Georgia Tech Invite

FAIRBURN, Ga. – On Friday morning, the Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Georgia Tech Invite at Bouckaert Farms. The men and the women both finished eighth overall.
 
In the men's 8K race, freshman Ben Beucler was 42nd overall in 26:45.30 to lead the Terriers. Liam Jones was the next to finish at 26:47.70, followed by Andrew York (27:20.50), Nate Hopkins (28:26.80), Kai Wilmot (29:00.50), and Aydan Layton (29:07.50).
 
The women's 6K race followed and Madeline Smith was 14th overall in 21:55.49. Ava Dennis was next for the Terriers at 23:28.67, followed by Becca Hinds (24:03.69), Taylor Battle (24:35.46), Jordyn Battle (24:58.77), and Sarah Turner (26:22.66).
 
Overall, Georgia Tech won the men's event of eleven teams with 20 points, followed by Chattanooga and Mercer. The Yellow Jackets also won the women's race that included 13 teams with 18 points, followed by Mercer and Chattanooga.
 
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Saturday, October 18, at the Upstate Invitational hosted at Milliken Park.
