MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2025 Southern Conference Championships on Saturday morning at the Tryon Equestrian Center. The women were ninth and the men were tenth overall.
The women's 5K race was held first and
Madeline Smith was the first Terrier to cross the finish line in 19:17.8 for 40
th place.
Ava Dennis (19:33.3),
Becca Hinds (19:37.1),
Jordyn Battle (20:36.9), and
Sarah Turner (20:54.8) scored points for Wofford.
Camille Terracina (22:26.4) and
Emma O'Connell (22:39.7) also finished for the team.
In the men's 8K race,
Liam Jones was 46
th overall to lead the Terriers in a time of 27:03.5. He was followed by
Ben Beucler (27:27.7),
Andrew York (28:17.3),
Nate Hopkins (29:41.7),
Kai Wilmot (30:14.8) and
Aydan Layton (30:45.0),
Overall, Furman was first in both the men's (20) and women's (23) races for the 13
th straight season. In the women's race after Furman, Mercer (68), Chattanooga (82), Western Carolina (123), Samford (129), East Tennessee State (140), VMI (206, UNCG (212), Wofford (244) and The Citadel (300) completed the field. Furman was followed in the men's race by East Tennessee State (85), UNCG (104), Chattanooga (105), Samford (115), Mercer (129), Western Carolina (157), VMI (231), The Citadel (273), and Wofford (288).
