ABOUT WOFFORD
Shawn Watson is entering his third full season as head coach of the Terriers. On offense, the offensive line features returning starters Mason Howard, Quincy Hughes, and Luke Moise. Clayton Hixon started the final three games last season at center and Dillon Porter will be at the other spot. The pro spread offense usually sees three receivers, one tight end and one running back in most formations. Terrance Honeywood, Ivory Aikens, and Isaiah Scott are starting at receiver, with Scott the lone returning starter. Transfer Matt Flanders will start at tight end, while Ihson Jackson-Anderson has started at running back.  At quarterback, Jayden Whitaker earned the starting spot after a competition in fall camp, but was replaced by Ethan Drumm against Richmond and J.T Fayard took over against Norfolk State.
The defense remains a 3-4 base, with the defensive line led by returners Brandon Maina and Marion Smokes. They are joined by Seth Foster. The linebacker position has four new starters in Kade Moledor, Javario Tinch, Jalen Rambert, and Tyce Donnelly. In the secondary, safeties Eli Campbell and Maximus Pulley are the starters at safety, with Darius Malcolm and J'Vion "Skoot" Luster taking over at the cornerback positions.
The special teams will see Sam Spence handling placekicking, Bridger Jones kicking off, Maddox Cowart at punter and holder, and Blake Shirley at long snapper.

JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST
A standout group of 22 players has been nominated to the watch list of the Stats Perform 2025 Jerry Rice Award, which honors the FCS freshman player of the year in college football's Division I subdivision. Wofford defensive back Darius Malcolm Jr. is one of the 22 players to earn a spot on the watch list. Malcolm, a second-year freshman from Atlanta, Georgia, is second on the team in total tackles with 67.

IN THE 2025 NATIONAL RANKINGS
In the 2025 NCAA rankings, Colby Alexander is tied for third in kickoff returns for touchdowns ... Ivory Aikens is 36th in kickoff returns (23.3 yards) ... Isaiah Scott is 11th in punt returns (13.8 yards) ... Ihson Jackson-Anderson is 36th in rushing yards per carry (5.51) ...  Brandon Maina is 15th in tackles for loss (1.29) ... Maina is also 18th in sacks (0.79).

2025 PRESEASON ALL-SOCON
The Terriers had six players recognized by the league's coaches on the 2025 preseason all-conference first and second team. One player earned a spot on the first team, sophomore safety C.J. Coombes. Coombes started all 12 games last season and was second on the team with 88 total tackles.
Five players earned spots on the second team. Senior offensive lineman Quincy Hughes started all 12 games at left tackle last season. Senior defensive lineman Brandon Maina started four games in 2024 before an injury. In 2023, he started ten games and was named All-Southern Conference second team with a team-high 4.0 sacks. Senior safety Maximus Pulley started all 12 games last season and had 53 total tackles. Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Scott played in all 12 games last season with eight starts and was second on the team in receiving with 28 catches for 350 yards. Sophomore defensive lineman Marion Smokes, played in seven games last season and led the team in sacks with 4.0 to be named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team.

ANOTHER SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wofford safety Maximus Pulley was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on November 10. Pulley had a pair of interceptions at VMI, with one returned 50 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The other interception was returned to the 28-yard line, setting up a Wofford field goal in the first quarter. He added five tackles in the victory.

MAXIMUS
A preseason All-Southern Conference second team selection, Maximus Pulley has been living up to his name. In back-to-back games against Samford and VMI, he had a pair of interceptions in each game (4 total) and returned an interception for a touchdown in both games. He is one of five players in the country to have two returns for a touchdown this year. The two returns in a season are tied for the most in school history. He has more returns for touchdowns than 120 FCS teams. In addition, he is third on the team with 66 total tackles.

THE PICK-6
This season, Wofford has five interceptions returned for touchdowns. C.J. Coombes started the season with one at S.C. State, followed by Javario Tinch with one against Furman. Maximus Pulley and Eli Campbell each had one against Samford, while Pulley added one at VMI. The five interceptions returned for a touchdown is ranked first in the nation. Only one FBS team has five - Louisiana Tech - while Maryland has four.

THE PASSING GAME AT VMI
On November 8 at VMI, the Wofford passing game was led by J.T. Fayard, who was 22-of-33 for 365 yards and five touchdowns. The 365 yards were the third-most in a game in school history, while the five touchdown passes broke the school record of four that was previously held by Carter Davis (1973 vs. Albion) and Peyton Derrick (2021 at The Citadel). Three of those five touchdown passes went to Ivory Aikens, who now shares the school record with David Creasy (1973 vs. Albion) and Jerry Richardson (1956 vs. Newberry). Isaiah Scott had 113 receiving yards in the game, ranking 25th in school history.
