JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Wofford College rifle team competed on Saturday at the Gamecock Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville State University. The Gamecocks, currently ranked No. 12 in the nation, posted a team aggregate of 4680, defeating 18th-ranked UAB (4639), 19th-ranked UT Martin (4625), North Georgia (4661), and Wofford (4529).
The Terriers were led by
Oliver Guthrie with an aggregate of 1,150, with a career best of 573 in smallbore.
Garett Dall had a 1,135, which included a career-best of 579 on air rifle. Dall led the team with 55 centers.
Samuel Nickless had a 1,126.
Anna Mottern fired a 1,118, with a career best 576 in air rifle.
Henry Sparra had a 540 in smallbore only, while
Maeghan Springer had a career-best 562 in air rifle only.
Overall, Jacksonville State's Frans Rasmusson had the top aggregate score with an 1182. Holly Visconti from UAB had a 587 to take the top spot in smallbore, while Akos Marta from Jacksonville State was first in air rifle at 596.
After the semester break, Wofford will return to action on Friday, January 16, when the Terriers host UAB and The Citadel.
