BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 road win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex. The Runnin' Bulldogs won the doubles point and then the Terriers answered by winning all six singles matches.
 
Doubles began with the Runnin' Bulldogs winning at the #2 position 6-1. Wofford responded with a 7-5 win at the #3 position by the pairing of Chloe Elliott and Brianna Wilbur. In the deciding match at #1 doubles, Gardner-Webb won 7-6 by a tiebreaker score of 8-6.
 
In singles, Lily Woods started off with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #3 position. Chloe Elliott claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at the #6 position and Breda Brennan added a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #1 position. A 6-2, 6-4 victory by Catherine Blouin at #4 singles clinched the overall match for the Terriers.
 
The final two singles matches each went to a third-set tiebreaker. At #2 singles, Brianna Wilbur won the first set 7-6 (7-5) and lost the second set before taking the tiebreaker 10-7. Grace Agster lost the first set 2-6 at #5 singles but rallied for a 7-6 (7-4) win in the second set and won the tiebreaker 11-9 to complete the singles sweep.
 
"I am really proud of the way we bounced back after losing the doubles point," said head coach Krissy Hall. "We kept our energy up and competed hard on every point. I am proud of the team for pulling out all six singles matches."
 
The Terriers (6-1) will remain on the road on Saturday, March 1, as they visit Presbyterian College for a 1:00 p.m. match. Gardner-Webb is now 2-3 on the season.
