Box Score CLINTON, S.C. – On Sunday afternoon, the Wofford women's tennis team earned a 5-2 road win over Presbyterian College at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts. The Terriers won the doubles point and four of the six singles matches for the win.
The Terriers opened doubles with a 6-1 win by
Breda Brennan and
Lily Woods at the #1 position. After the Blue Hose won 6-2 at the #3 position, the point would be decided at the #2 position.
Grace Agster and
Brianna Wilbur found themselves down 5-6 but tied it at 6-6 and won the tiebreaker to secure the doubles point for Wofford.
In singles, Wofford won the first set in five of the six matches.
Catherine Blouin picked up the first win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at the #4 position.
Grace Agster added a 6-2, 6-2 win at the #5 position and
Breda Brennan clinched the match for the Terriers with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 singles. The Blue Hose had a win at the #6 position. In the final match to be decided,
Brianna Wilbur won the first set at #2 singles 7-5 but lost the second set 4-6. In the third set tiebreaker, the Blue Hose won 10-5 to close out the match.
"I am really proud of the way we fought today," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We did a great job of carrying the momentum from doubles to singles. We are looking forward to competing back home on Friday."
The Terriers (7-1) will be back home at the Reeves Tennis Center on Friday, March 7, when they host Elon at noon. Presbyterian is now 4-12 on the season.
