AIKEN, S.C. – Weather impacted the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on day one, forcing the cancellation of one of the event's rounds. After both concluding round one and playing round two on Tuesday, the Wofford men's golf team placed 10
th in the tournament.
Major Lenning led the Terriers with a 151 score in a tie for 33
rd.
Wofford tallied a 319 in the first round, which spanned two days after being suspended a few holes in due to inclement weather. After a 290 bounce back in round two, the Terriers finished with a total score of 609 to place in 10
th in the 15-team field. Wofford had the fifth-best par-3 average score in the event with 3.23. The Terriers were also fifth in the field with 100 pars.
Clemson won the tournament with a 3-over score of 563, five strokes ahead of tournament host USC Aiken.
Major Lenning paced the Terriers in a tie for 33
rd, scoring 151 at 11-over. He posted rounds of 76 and 75.
Aiken's Oscar Abrahamsson won the event after defeating Campbell's Henric Bjelke in a playoff round. Both scored a 2-under 138 in the 75-player event.
Charles Warren and
Will Brown tied for 47
th with each carding 153. Both golfers carded the same round-by-round results, tallying an 80 in the first round before posting a 73 in the second.
Miller Carr tied for 55
th with a 155 score after rounds of 83 and 72. Carr amassed 23 pars, tied for third most in the event.
Ben Jordan rounds out the Wofford lineup with a 158 score in a tie for 61
st. After an opening 86, he finished strong with a 72.
Wofford will return to action this weekend, traveling to Greensboro, Georgia, for the Linger Longer Invitational. The event is hosted by Mercer and runs from Sunday, March 16, to Tuesday, March 18.
