CARY, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team closed out the non-conference schedule with a 4-0 win over North Carolina Central on Thursday morning at the Cary Tennis Park. The Terriers won the doubles point and won three singles matches to clinch the match. The remaining three singles matches were unfinished.
The Eagles won the doubles match at the #2 position. Wofford was able to claim the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the #1 position by
Breda Brennan and
Lily Woods, along with a 6-3 win by
Chloe Elliott and
Brianna Wilbur at the #3 position.
In singles,
Catherine Blouin had a 6-2, 6-2 win at the #4 position and
Grace Agster added a 6-1, 6-1 win at the #5 position.
Quinn Bernthal secured the match win for the Terriers with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the #6 position. While the remaining three matches were unfinished,
Brianna Wilbur and
Lily Woods had first set wins at the #2 and #3 positions, respectively.
"We showed great energy, competitiveness, and confidence throughout our matches today," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "I am so proud of this team and excited to start our conference matches at home this weekend!"
The Terriers (11-1) will host Chattanooga on Saturday, March 22, at the Reeves Tennis Center. The 11-1 start for the Terriers is the best in school history, topping the previous mark set in the 2008 season (10-1). N.C. Central is now 4-7 overall.
