SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team began Southern Conference play with a 7-0 sweep of Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then won all six singles matches.
 
In doubles, Lily Woods and Breda Brennan had a 6-2 win at the #1 position. Wofford had 5-4 leads in the matches at #2 and #3 doubles. Chloe Elliott and Brianna Wilbur won 6-4 at the #3 position to clinch the doubles point. At the #2 position, Grace Agster and Catherine Bluin completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win.
 
Wofford won the first set in all six singles matches. Breda Brennan won 6-3, 6-3 at the # 1 position and Lily Woods had a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #3 position. Catherine Blouin was able to clinch the overall match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the #4 position.
 
At the #6 position, Chloe Elliott won the first set 6-1 and then took the second set 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker. Brianna Wilbur won the first set 7-5 at the #2 position and was up 4-1 in the second set before it was tied 6-all. Wilbur won the tiebreaker 7-2 to take the match. The #5 position was the only one to go the three sets, as Grace Agster won the first set 6-1 and lost the second set 3-6. She was up 5-2 in the third set and held serve for the 6-2 win which completed the sweep.
 
"We played a great match," said head coach Krissy Hall. "I thought we started strong in doubles and carried that momentum into our singles matches. The mindsets and energy were outstanding on all courts. It was a complete team win!"
 
The Terriers (12-1, 1-0) will visit Mercer on Tuesday, March 25. Chattanooga is 8-7 overall and 0-2 in SoCon play. The match marked the first time in school history that the Terriers have swept Chattanooga. It was also the first time Wofford defeated the Mocs in back-to-back seasons.
