CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – To begin the 2025 Southern Conference Championship, the Wofford College women's tennis team defeated Chattanooga 4-0 at the Champions Club on Thursday afternoon. The Terriers won the doubles point and then won three singles matches to close out the victory. Wofford advances to the semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons.
 
Chloe Elliott and Brianna Wilbur opened doubles play with a 6-1 win at the #3 position. Chattanooga claimed a 6-2 win at the #2 position, but the All-SoCon second team pair of Breda Brennan and Lily Woods had a 6-2 win at the #1 position to clinch the doubles point for the Terriers.
 
In singles, Wofford won the first set in five of the six matches. Catherine Blouin was the first to finish with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #4 position. Lily Woods added a 6-0, 6-4 win at the #3 position to give the Terriers a 3-0 lead in the overall match. Chloe Elliott clinched the overall match with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #6 position.
 
The remaining three singles matches were left unfinished. Breda Brennan won the first set at #1 singles 6-4 and trailed 2-5 in the second set. At the #2 position, Brianna Wilbur lost the first set 1-6 but was leading 5-4 in the second set. At #5 singles, Grace Agster won the first set 7-6 and led in the second set 2-1.
 
"I am so proud of our energy from the first point of doubles throughout the singles matches," said head coach Krissy Hall. "We went in with a great mindset and executed our game plans perfectly. I am super proud of this team and excited to be back in the semifinals again tomorrow."
 
The Terriers (17-3, 5-2) are the #3 seed and have set a new record for wins in a single season. This marks just the fourth all-time appearance in the semifinals for Wofford and it is only the second 4-0 win in a Southern Conference Championship match (Mercer, 2019). Chattanooga finished their season at 11-11 overall as the #6 seed. Wofford advances to face #2 seed ETSU on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
