RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wofford Men's Soccer team (0-1-0) fell to the No. 14 NC State (2-0-0), 6-0, on Sunday night at a packed Dail Soccer Field in Raleigh, North Carolina.
First Half
The Terriers started the game with six newcomers on the field. The Wolfpack controlled most of possession early in the game, leading to multiple chances in Wofford's defensive-third. Despite multiple strong saves and clearances, the Terriers conceded 19 minutes into the match, as Tyler Caton cleaned up a loose ball in the box. It quickly fell apart for Wofford as Donavan Phillip scored a hat-trick in ten minutes. Max Ogawa was able to add one more for the Wolfpack before the half.
Second Half
Wofford was able to generate multiple penetrating chances early in the second half. The Wolfpack continued to control possession, but the Terrier defense was able to hold off the opposition's attack. An unlucky own goal broke the deadlock in the half in the 66th minute. Wofford's defense did not give up and continued to provide strong defensive clearances until the end of the game.
