SPARTANBURG, S.C – The Wofford women's soccer team lost against the University of Richmond in their first meeting after an early goal in the match's first minutes on Sunday afternoon at Snyder Field.
The Spiders opened the game with a goal in the second minute, but the Terriers responded with back-to-back shots from
Ines Obradovac and
Kate Markey.
The Terriers fought to keep possession of the ball, limiting the Spiders to only two more shots for the remainder of the half.
Both teams started the second half strong, with each fighting to keep possession. The Spiders were the first to strike at the 53
rd minute but the attempt was quickly blocked by the Terrier's defense.
Goalkeeper
Elizabeth Navola reached her 100
th career save at the 75
th minute when Richmond's Marisa Snee went in for the low shot. Navola moves to 13 saves after four games.
Senior midfielder
Ansley Elizalde had two shots, with one being the Terrier's lone shot on goal for the match.
Synder Field saw a capacity crowd of 675, including the entire freshman class of 2029, that came to support the Terriers in today's match.
The Terriers will be back in action on Thursday to face off against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs at Greene-Harbison Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
