CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Wofford women's soccer team (3-5-3, 0-1-0) dropped their conference opener in a 4-0 loss against Chattanooga (7-2-1, 1-0-0) Thursday evening at Finley Stadium.
The Mocs jumped on the board early, scoring in just the fourth minute of the match to give themselves a 1-0 lead. The Terriers' defense came back to hold the back line tight against the Moc's strong offense.
However, the Mocs continued to be relentless on the offensive end. In the 27th minute, Chattanooga's Caroline Richvalsky scored unassisted deep in the box to push their lead to 2-0 over the Terriers.
The Terriers' offense tried to force the ball forward but couldn't quite follow through before the end of the half.
Wofford was held to one shot in the first half; the fewest the Terriers' have had so far this season. Chattanooga ended the half with 11 shots, seven being on target. The Terriers' possession was held at 38 percent compared to the Mocs' 62 percent. Elizabeth Navola had five saves for the Terriers.
The Terriers came back from the break with more energy. Ines Obradovac struck first for Wofford with a shot that was wide left. However, Chattanooga's offense kept pushing with several shot attempts before scoring in the 71st minute for a 3-0 advantage.
The Terriers' offense didn't give up as Addison Watt found a chance to give Wofford their first goal of the night in the 75th minute, but the shot was quickly saved by Chattanooga. The Moc's sealed the game in the 85th minute with a goal by Reese Wilson to give themselves the 4-0 win.
By the end, Wofford's possession was held to 40 percent compared to Chattanooga's consistent 60 percent. The Terriers ended with three shots, one on goal; meanwhile, the Mocs had 22 shots, 14 on goal. Navola and Kendall Joggerst combined for a total of ten saves compared to Chattanooga's one.

Joggerst recorded her first minutes and first save in tonight's conference matchup. Joggerst ended with 15 minutes and two saves.
Addison Watt had her first shot on goal of the season.
Madeline Smolenski recorded a season-high of 36 minutes.
