ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wofford College men's tennis team opened the spring season at Georgia Tech on Monday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Terriers 4-0 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
In doubles, Georgia Tech won 6-3 at the #3 position. At the #1 position,
Jack Deveney and
Ian Rasheed trailed 5-3 and then took a 6-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets tied it at 6-6 and then won the tiebreaker 7-4 to secure the doubles point.
Valdemar Dubin and
Julian Brager-Carlsen had a 2-1 lead at the #2 position and then led 4-3. The match was unfinished with Georgia Tech leading 6-5.
The Yellow Jackets took the first set in all six singles matches. They claimed straight-set wins at the #5, #3, and #1 positions to clinch the overall match. The remaining three singles matches were unfinished.
Wofford travels to California for the next two matches against UC San Diego (Jan. 30) and Point Loma (Jan. 31). The home opener will be on Saturday, February 7.
