Wofford Announces 2026 Football Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College has announced the 2026 football schedule, which features home games against Gardner-Webb and Southern Conference foes The Citadel, Tennessee Tech, VMI, and East Tennessee State. The Terriers will also visit Kent State and Ole Miss.

The Terriers will begin the season with a home game against The Citadel on August 29. Wofford has won three of the last four meetings against the Bulldogs, including a win last season in Charleston. A home non-conference game against Gardner-Webb follows on September 5. The Terriers hold a 21-8 lead in the series against the Runnin' Bulldogs, with a 21-20 road win in the 2024 meeting.

On September 12, Wofford will visit Kent State. The Golden Flashes were 5-7 last season, and this will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Terriers will return to Southern Conference play on September 19 with a trip to Chattanooga. Last season the Terriers earned a 35-13 win over the Mocs,

Wofford will host Tennessee Tech on September 26 for the first time as Southern Conference opponents. The two teams last met in 2016, and the Terriers hold a 4-0 lead in the series. The Golden Eagles were 11-2 last season and won the OVC-Big South title to reach the NCAA FCS Playoffs.

The Terriers will visit Furman on October 3, marking the 100th meeting between the two teams. Wofford has won the last three meetings in a series that dates back to 1889. On October 10, Wofford will travel to Elon. The two teams last met in 2022 and the Terriers hold a 28-12 lead in the series between former conference foes. Wofford will host VMI on October 17, with the Terriers winning the 2025 meeting by a 52-10 margin in Lexington.

After the open date on October 24, the Terriers return to SoCon play with a visit to Samford on October 31. Wofford has won back-to-back games in the series, and the Bulldogs will have a new head coach in John Grass. On November 7, Wofford will travel to Cullowhee to face Western Carolina. The Catamounts have won five straight games in the series. The final regular season home game will be on November 14 against East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers took a 17-16 lead in the overall series with a win last season.

The final game of the regular season will see the Terriers visit Ole Miss, who reached the semifinals of the College Football Playoffs and finished ranked third in the final AP poll. This will be the second trip to Oxford for Wofford, as the two teams also met in 2016.

This will be the first season that the Southern Conference will play nine league games. Since Wofford, along with several other schools, already had four non-conference games scheduled when Tennessee Tech was added to the membership, the Terriers will play only eight league games. Mercer will be the lone SoCon team that Wofford will not face.
