SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team defeated North Greenville by a 7-0 score on Thursday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. Wofford won a closely contested doubles point and then swept the singles matches.
Doubles action began with
Quinn Bernthal and
Katie Godfree winning 6-0 at the #1 position.
Chloe Elliott and
Ella Suk were down 3-4 at the #2 position and were tied at 6-6. In the tiebreaker, the Terriers won 7-2, which clinched the doubles point. At the #3 position,
Grace Stout and
Marie Henriksen were down 3-4 and rallied for a 7-5 win.
In singles,
Quinn Bernthal won 6-0, 6-0 at the #1 position and
Katie Godfree added a 6-1, 6-2 win at the #2 position.
Grace Stout clinched the overall match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the #5 position. At the #4 position,
Chloe Elliott won 6-2, 6-0.
Ella Suk won a tiebreaker in the first set and then took the second set 6-3 to close out the #3 position. In the final match to conclude,
Marie Henriksen had a 6-2, 6-0 win at the #6 position.
Wofford (3-1) will visit Davidson on Sunday, Feb. 15. The next home match will be Tuesday, Feb. 17, against North Carolina Central.
