CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team was defeated 5-2 on Saturday afternoon by the College of Charleston at the Turner Tennis Center at Patriots Point. The Cougars won the doubles point and then claimed four of the six singles matches.
In the doubles matches, the Cougars won the #2 position by a 6-1 margin and added a 6-2 win at the #3 position. With the point clinched, the #1 match was unfinished with Wofford trailing 5-4.
Four of the six singles matches went to three sets. After the Cougars won at the #5 position in straight sets, they added a three-set win at the #4 position. The #3 position was also won in straight sets, clinching the overall match for the College of Charleston.
Jack Burdell got the Terriers on the board with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win at the #6 position.
Daniel Clivio earned a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win at the #1 position. The Cougars closed out singles with a three-set win at the #2 position.
Wofford (5-3) will return home on Tuesday, Feb. 17, to host Presbyterian College.
