BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Wofford men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Samford University on Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center. The Bulldogs won the doubles point and then won all six singles matches, three of which went to a third set, to earn the win.
 
In doubles, the Bulldogs won at the #3 and #2 positions to clinch the point, The #1 position with Jack Deveney and Valdemar Dubin was won 7-6 in a tiebreaker by Samford.
 
Singles began with the Bulldogs winning at the #5 position. The match at the #2 position was won in three sets by Samford, which was followed by a win at the #4 position to secure the overall match for the Bulldogs. After a win at the #3 position, the final two matches went to three sets. Parker Mariencheck won the first set 6-0 at the #1 position but lost the next two sets. At the #6 position, Jack Burdell lost the first set and rebounded with a 6-4 win in the second set. The third set tiebreaker was won 16-14 by the Bulldogs.
 
Wofford (6-5, 1-1 SoCon) will host Belmont on Thursday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Reeves Tennis Center.
