SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the Wofford College football team held its first full pads practice of the spring. It marked the fifth of fifteen scheduled practices for the team.
The Terriers worked out in full pads on the lower practice fields for ninety minutes. The practice focused primarily on continuing to implement the playbook on both sides of the ball, along with special teams drills. In the final period, the team focused on fourth down territory and no huddle, with the defense coming up with interceptions by
Eli Campbell, Cory Williams, and
Trace Gaynes.
"I like the way the guys have been flying around today," said head coach
Shawn Watson. "We had a really good special teams period, and that got the ball rolling. I thought the defense had a really good day today. The offense had a better day on Thursday. The defense played a lot more assuredly today, so they did a really nice job. After five days, I feel like we're progressing really well. The thing I'm most pleased with is the effort. We're putting the offense and defense in, still stacking installs. Today I thought I saw a breakthrough, especially on defense. I saw it on Thursday with offense, and then today, I saw it in the defense."
The Terriers will be back on the field next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before taking a week off for spring break.
