CONWAY, S.C. – On Sunday morning, the Wofford College women's tennis team was defeated 4-1 by Coastal Carolina at the Stevens Tennis Complex. The Chanticleers won the doubles point and won three of the six singles matches to secure the win.
Coastal Carolina opened doubles with a 6-3 win at the #3 position and added a 6-4 win at the #2 position to clinch the point. The match at the #1 position was unfinished with
Grace Agster and
Quinn Bernthal tied with Coastal Carolina at 5-5.
Singles began with Coastal Carolina winning at the #2 position.
Marie Henriksen had a 6-0, 6-2 win at the #6 position for the Terriers. The Chanticleers had straight-set wins at the #5 and #1 positions to clinch the overall match. The remaining two singles matches were unfinished, with Coastal Carolina winning the first set at the #3 and #4 positions in tiebreakers.
Wofford is 6-5 overall and 0-1 in the SoCon. The match at Coastal Carolina (8-2) was originally scheduled for February 1 but was postponed due to snow. The Terriers will host UNC Asheville on Wednesday, March 18, at 2:00 p.m. for the final non-conference match of the season.
