SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Saturday afternoon, the Wofford College women's tennis team defeated Samford by a 4-3 score at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Bulldogs won the closely contested doubles point, but the Terriers won four of the six singles matches to claim the victory.
The Bulldogs took the first doubles match at the #2 position by a 6-3 score. At the #3 position,
Katie Godfree and
Marie Henriksen were tied at 3-3 before taking a 5-3 lead. However, the Bulldogs rallied for a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point. At the #1 position,
Grace Agster and
Quinn Bernthal trailed 5-4 before taking a 6-5 lead. With the match tied at 6-6, the Terriers took the tiebreaker by a 7-5 score.
In singles, the Terriers won the first set in five of the six matches.
Grace Agster had a 6-0, 6-2 win at the #1 position and
Quinn Bernthal added a 6-2, 6-2 win at the #2 position for a 2-1 lead in the overall match.
Ella Suk added a 6-4, 6-0 win at the #4 position.
Katie Godfree had a 7-5, 6-4 win at the #3 position, which clinched the overall match for the Terriers.
The final two matches were decided in three sets. At the #5 position,
Chloe Elliott lost the first set 6-3 and won the second set 6-3 before falling 6-2 in the third set.
Marie Henriksen won the first set 6-4 at the #6 position but lost the second set 7-5. In the third set tiebreaker, the Bulldogs won 10-7.

Krissy Hall. "Their grit, determination, and energy fueled a true team performance today. Every player stepped up and competed with heart and purpose."
Wofford is 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the SoCon and will visit #66 Furman on Tuesday, March 31, at 3:00 p.m. The win marked the 200
th career win for
Krissy Hall, with 145 of those at Wofford. The Bulldogs are 10-7 overall and 2-1 in league play.
