GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford College women's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Furman University at the Mickel Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. The Paladins, ranked #72 in the nation, won all three doubles matches and then earned wins in all six singles matches.
Furman took a 3-1 lead in all three doubles matches. The Paladins secured a 6-2 win at the #3 position and followed with a 6-2 win at the #1 position. The #2 position was won 6-3 by Furman to complete the doubles sweep. In singles, Furman won all six matches in straight sets.
The Terriers (9-7, 2-3) will visit Western Carolina on Friday, April 3, for a 2:00 p.m. match. Furman is 13-4 overall and 5-0 in SoCon play. The Paladins retain possession of the yearly Pinson Cup by Bobby and Dixie Pinson, beloved friends of both the Furman and Wofford programs.
