THE CHATTANOOGA GAME
After a loss to Kent State on Saturday, Wofford returns to Southern Conference play with a visit to Chattanooga ... The Terriers are 2-1 on the season after a 41-14 win over The Citadel, a 17-13 win over Gardner-Webb, and a 36-15 loss at Kent State ... In the SoCon standings, Wofford is 1-0 for the first time since the 2020-21 season which was played in the spring ... The Terriers posted a 6-6 record last year, with a 5-3 mark in the Southern Conference to finish tied for third in the standings ... Wofford and Chattanooga are meeting for the 33rd time, with the series tied at 16 wins each ... Last season the Terriers came away with a 35-13 win in Spartanburg ... Chattanooga was 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the SoCon last season to finish tied for fifth ... The Mocs are 1-2 overall with a win over West Georgia and losses to Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky ... Wofford is receiving votes in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and the FCS Coaches polls. Â

Shawn Watson enters his fourth full season as head coach of the Terriers. On offense, the offensive line features returning starters
Clayton Hixon,
Reggie Houston and
Dillon Porter, with
Kam Wallace and
Esom Nnajiofor rounding out the group. The pro spread offense usually sees three receivers, one tight end and one running back in most formations. Four of the top five receivers from last year return in
Ivory Aikens,
Colby Alexander, Terrance Honeywood, and
Isaiah Scott. Sophomore
Jack Ewell is projected to start at tight end, while Gerald Modest returns at running back. At quarterback,
J.T. Fayard started the final seven games last season with a 6-1 record and he will be backed up by
Ethan Drumm, who started two games in 2025.Â
  The defense remains a 3-4 base, with the defensive line having three new starters in Ramon McCollough,
Joseph Polite, and
Nicholas Mathious. The linebacker position will return
Javario Tinch,
Kade Moledor and
Wyatt Ward who all started games last year, along with
Logan McCloud. In the secondary, safety
Eli Campbell is joined by
Jacobi Hatter with
Cole Walker and J'Vion "Skoot" Luster at the cornerback positions.Â
  The special teams unit has
Sam Spence returning to kick and punt, however
Cillian Bonner,
Haven Maddox and
Breyson Palmer are also in the mix.
Ivory Aikens and
Colby Alexander will handle kickoff returns, with
Isaiah Scott and
Gavin Batt on punt return.Â
