RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wofford College volleyball team defeated the Charlotte University 49ers 3-0 in the opening round of the Summit Hospitality Tournament hosted by N.C. State on Friday afternoon. The Terriers improve to 4-0 on the season while Charlotte drops to 2-2.

Bradley Brown led the team with 12 kills on a .400 hitting percentage, while
Natalie Arnold totaled 10 kills on a .444 hitting percentage.
Taylor Pecht closed the match with 19 assists along with 16 from
Maddy Frazier.
Chloe Smith had a team-high three service aces.
Ella Coleman had two.

On the defensive side,
Laney Klika had 15 digs to pace the team.
Ella Coleman recorded eight, and
Chloe Smith had seven.
Bradley Brown,
Natalie Arnold and
Charlotte Bell had two blocks apiece.

Wofford finished the day with 43 kills on a .316 hitting percentage compared to 40 kills on a .243 hitting percentage from Charlotte. The Terriers posted seven aces to Charlotte's zero. Wofford won the battle at the net with four blocks compared to three from Charlotte. The two teams tied with 38 assists and 38 digs each.

Charlotte took an early 4-3 lead in set one, but that would be the only time the 49ers held a lead in the opening stanza. With the set tied at 9-9, Wofford rattled off a 12-2 run to take full control.
Bradley Brown posted eight kills in the first set as Wofford won 25-17.

The 49ers led to start the second set, taking an 11-6 lead over Wofford. The Terriers responded, however, scoring five unanswered points to tie the set at 11-all. The run was highlighted by an ace from
Chloe Smith along with three attacking errors from Charlotte. Another 8-1 run put Wofford ahead 23-16 and would eventually give the team a 25-18 victory in set two.

Wofford started set three with a quick 4-0 lead, but Charlotte battled back in front to take a 7-6 advantage. It was back-and-forth from there, with neither team holding onto a lead greater than two points. Charlotte held set-point with a 24-23 lead until kills from
Natalie Arnold and
Bradley Brown put the Terriers in front. Freshman
Avery White ended the match with a kill as Wofford won set three 26-24 and the match 3-0.
