Biography

Part-time starter seeking more playing time as a fourth-year junior . . . Hails from an outstanding high school program . . . Has improved his change of direction and quickness . . . A great leader both on and off the field . . . Plays hard every play . . . Much more disciplined player than he was as a rookie . . .

2005: Was a key reserve at defensive end alongside Layton Baker . . . Made two starts against Elon (Oct. 8) and VMI (Oct. 15) in place of Erik Hutchinson . . . Made a season-high five tackles against the Keydets . . . Also had four stops vs. West Virginia . . . Had 1.5 sacks for a loss of 10 yards as part of his three tackles for loss against VMI . . . Had at least one TFL in three of the final four games of the season . . . Also had an 11-yard sack of Furman quarterback Ingle Martin (Nov. 12) . . . Had two tackles, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry at Western Carolina (Nov. 5) . . .

Utilized as a defensive end and nose guard on defense and at right guard on offense . . . Had 10 quarterback sacks among his 70 tackles . . . Two-time Player of the Week recipient . . . Had two tackles for a loss and two sacks while totaling 10 stops against Union . . . Also had a fumble recovery in the game . . . Selected for his school’s prestigious Ultimate Trojan Award . . . Personal: Born Oct. 15, 1984 in New Orleans . . . Son of Jim Gonsoulin and Dianna Chenevert . . . His mother has relocated to Spartanburg after being displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in September 2005 . . . She is the donations coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Spartanburg.
